The Hiking App that will
elevate your well-being.
Eutrex is a hiking app that aims to enhance the well-being and mental health of its users. The app was designed to provide a space for users to fully immerse themselves in nature. The colors and overall experience were carefully chosen to create a sense of calmness and tranquility. The name Eutrex was inspired by the word eustress, which refers to good stress. The prefix "EU", meaning "good" in Greek, was combined with "trex", which is associated with paths and trails, to provide a name that alludes to good paths, trails, and adventures to come.
Within the app, there is a dedicated space for individuals to log the hikes and trails that they have been on. In these journal entries, one can reflect on who they were with, the difficulty, as well as the thoughts feelings, and emotions that they experienced pre, mid, and post-adventure. After saving the journal entry the individual can go back and see the gallery of all the beautiful adventures they took. In addition to the digital journal, there is also access to a physical journal. This allows people who like to fully disconnect for the virtual world.
Eujournal
Bucket List
The app has a dedicated section where users can keep track of the hiking trails they have explored. In these journal entries, users can write about their experience, including who they were with, the difficulty level, and their thoughts and emotions before, during, and after the adventure. After saving the journal entry, users can view a gallery of all the beautiful adventures they have taken. Apart from the digital journal, there is also a physical journal available for those who prefer to disconnect from the virtual world.
BFA Exhibition
While designing this app there was a lot of thought that went into the physical experience within the presentation of the project. This project was one of fifteen featured at the University of Hartford's Visual Communication Design BFA Exhibition. One of the main focal points within the space is the Eutrex sign. This sign was fully made in-house myself. The use of Auto-Desk Fusion was used to translate the Eutrex mark. After carefully programing the tool paths for the sign to be made it was then brought over to a CNC router machine. Once the logo was cut out it was then finished with a polyurethane oil base coating to bring out the beautiful grain of the wood. In addition to that the program was used to create a wooden QR code for my website. To add, there was also the presentation of journals on display and for handouts. These were also made in-house. The process of booking making and bookbinding also became a crucial part of making the display of Eutrex successful.
